Intuitive or tradtion based?

When I started reading tarot cards, I read every book I could find on the subject. However, when I actually did readings I couldn't cling to the "traditional" meanings of the cards and found specific spreads limiting.

My readings flow better without using spreads or clinging to meanings found in books.

What do you think?

Is it better to follow book meanings, or is it better to use intuition?

SageMother, I think all kinds of readings, whether by Tarot or tea leaves or palms, depend on the person reading, being intuitive to a large extent.

The best readers are those who can use their instincts to make the reading true, and more personal.
